Mentors Consulting & Training Awarded ACT 48 Approved Education Provider Status by PA Department of Education
PITTSBURGH, MAY 5, 2003
- Mentors Consulting & Training, a Pittsburgh-based professional development firm, announces that it has been granted statewide Act 48 approved professional education provider status by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education. Act 48 requires that all professional educators must obtain six credits of collegiate study; six credits of continuing professional education courses; 180 hours (6/6/180) of continuing professional education programs, activities or learning experiences; or any combination of credits or hours equivalent to 180 hours every five years to maintain active status.
As an accredited professional education provider, educators who partake in Mentors' Curriculum Accountable Teacher Training (CAT2¨) program can apply the training credits toward their Act 48 status. The CAT2 program is a customized executive-quality, technology-oriented training initiative specifically focused on curriculum integration - taught by teachers, for teachers. Topics such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FrontPage, and Internet Explorer are taught at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels.
Mentors' Act 48 provider status coincides with the launch of its annual summer 'Mentoring Educators' program, which provides educators with intensive training in how to effectively integrate new technology resources into daily classroom curriculum. Educators within the Pittsburgh region can register for one of four concurrent CAT2 training sessions being held the weeks of July 21-25, July 28-Aug. 1 and Aug. 4-8, in state-of-the art school district computer facilities located at various local host school districts.
Current host school districts include Avonworth and Moon Area. Participating school districts include North Allegheny and North Hills. For registration information, contact Mentors Consulting & Training at (412) 322-1907.
